No assembly required. I bought 2 of these for a business. I purchased the teak because of its weather tolerance so it was a little pricey. The back is a little uncomfortable because the lower edge of the top frame has a ridge that hits your shoulder blades unless you sit in the middle or turn a little. The seat is contoured so it is comfortable. The edges of the arm rests are a little shart. It would be nice if they were rounded a little, but the wood may not weather as well if they were due to grain exposure. This is a very sturdy bench and well made. Overall I am happy with my shopping experience and the product.
